 CALL FOR PAPERS

Scientific papers (up to FOUR pages in length) are to be submitted electronically on the ISBS 2015 platform for review. If not done yet, you will first have to create your personal account on the ISBS 2015 platform by filling this online form.

Each paper will be submitted from your personal account (MY SPACE) by following the four-step process described below.

  1. Metadatas

The following fields will be required:

  • Title Place the title of your paper.

  • Type Choose the type of submission among the following list: Oral, Oral New Investigator Award; Poster; Poster New Investigator Award; Applied Session; Keynote; Workshop.

For oral or poster presentation, please note that you may not get your preference due to the volume of paper submissions.

For New Investigator Award, top EIGHT papers (for both oral and poster) selected by ISBS Awards Committee will be presented during the NIA sessions . Other papers will be considered for general scientific sessions.

  • Topic Select up to 3 themes that may apply to your proposal among the following: Acrobatic Sports; Combat Sports; Computer Modeling & Simulation; Cyclic Sports; Fluid Mechanics; Gait & Locomotion; Injury Prevention; Innovative Methods; Jumping & Landing; Muscle & Tissue Mechanics; Neuromuscular Biomechanics; Paralympic & Special Population; Rehabilitation; Sensor Technology; Strength & Power Sports, Strength, Conditioning & Training; Swimming; Sports Medicine; Sports Product Development; Teaching & Coaching Biomechanics; Team Sports; Water Sports; Winter Sports.

Please note that the organizers may re-allocate proposal.

  • Keywords Indicate up to 6 relevant keywords that are not in the title.

  1. Author(s)

Add the author(s) and institution(s) individually. Corresponding author and speaker will have to be documented.

  1. File(s)

Use this Microsoft WORD guidelines and template file to submit your paper. This template contains specific instructions and a sample paper.

The main file will be automatically converted to pdf. We recommend you to generate your own pdf document from the Microsof WORD template file and then upload your own pdf file. We noticed that the automatic pdf conversion performed by our platform could cause errors  (eg: spaces eliminated between words, equations not interpreted correctly, ...).

Supplementary data can be added to the paper. These supplementary data can be uploaded as a file directly on ISBS 2015 platform, retrieved as a document available from the URL or embedded as html code (eg video deposited on another platform, …).

  1. Overview

Just a last check before submitting.

REVIEWING PROCESS

Due date for paper submission is February 6th, 2015. Authors can expect a response from the scientific chair by March 21th, 2015. Any necessary revision requested by the reviewers will be due by April 30st, 2015.

All papers will be initially reviewed by the Scientific Committee Chair to ensure that the topic is appropriate, the paper template has been used, submission guidelines have been followed, and correct grammar is used. All papers must be related to Biomechanics. Papers will then be reviewed by at least two members of the Scientific Committee. Reviewers will be assessing its suitability for presentation at the conference and for publication in the proceedings. On the basis of the review your paper will be categorized as one of the following:

  • Reject: Not suitable for publication in the proceedings.

  • Conditional Acceptance: The paper will only be accepted if the author(s) can make satisfactory responses to the reviewers' concerns. The paper will then be accepted only if all the concerns are addressed to the satisfaction of the reviewers.

  • Accept with Minor Changes: The author(s) must respond to the reviewers' concerns to the satisfaction of the editor of the proceedings.

Selected papers will be published in the ISBS 2015 electronic scientific proceedings.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

All abstracts must be prepared strictly according to the following guidelines.

Incomplete or incorrect submissions will not be reviewed. We encourage early submission to ensure prompt confirmation and processing.

  1. The paper will be submitted electronically on the ISBS 2015 platform. To create an account, fill the form at this webpage <https://isbs2015.sciencesconf.org/user/createaccount>.

  2. Use the Microsoft WORD guidelines and template file placed on ISBS 2015 platform to submit your paper. The main file will be automatically converted to pdf. Supplementary data can be added to the paper. These supplementary data can be uploaded as a file directly on ISBS 2015 platform, retrieved as a document available from the URL or embedded as html code (eg video deposited on another platform, …).

  3. The paper must be written in English. The paper can be up to FOUR A4 pages in length, single spaced, in Arial size 11 font with normal character spacing. Set your page to A4 portrait (30cm high by 21cm wide). The printing area should be 25cm by 16cm. Set the left and right margins at 2.5cm and the top and bottom margins at 2.5cm. The printing (other than formulas and tables) should be right and left justified. Do NOT indent the first line of paragraphs or sections.

  4. Use one or two lines to write the TITLE in BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS. Skip one line and type the author(s) first name and surname in bold lower case. On the next line give the author(s) affiliation(s), city, state, and country in bold lower case. The title, authors, and affiliations should be centered. Skip another line.

  5. Right and left justify all the following text (except formulas and tables). Write an abstract of no more than 10 lines indented 1cm from both the right and left margins in Arial size 10 font. Do NOT use a heading for the abstract and write the abstract as an unbroken single paragraph. Skip one line and list up to six keywords not used in the title (unbolded) describing your paper alongside the sub-heading KEYWORDS: in BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS.

  6. Skip another line and return to full width and Arial size 11 font. Your paper should have the following structure: An INTRODUCTION indicating the significance and purpose of the research and citing the primary literature sources. A description of the METHODS of data collection, data analysis, and research design. A RESULTS and DISCUSSION section. These sections may be combined, if desired, in the interests of saving space. A CONCLUSION should include reference to implications and applications of the work to sport and exercise. A major goal of the ISBS is to bridge the gap between sports biomechanics and practitioners in teaching, coaching, training, and rehabilitation of participants in sports. Your conclusion should highlight potential benefits of the study for practitioners. If your study is an advancement of methods of analysis or the development of new equipment, then the conclusion should indicate how this could lead to assisting practitioners. An alphabetical list of REFERENCES should conform to the guidelines of the journal Sports Biomechanics (APA 6th edition, including DOIs, http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/authors/style/reference/tf_APA.pdf).

  7. Skip a line after each of the above major sections. Each of the major headings listed above should be left justified (NOT indented or centered), in BOLD CAPITALS, and followed by a colon. The text then continues on the same line. If necessary, lower level sub-headings should follow the same format and should be in bold lower case (NOT capitals). Do NOT skip lines between paragraphs or before lower level sub-headings. Formulas, figures, and tables should be formatted in the style adopted by the journal Sports Biomechanics.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Oral presentations are 12 minutes in length with up to 3 minutes of question time. Presenters will be asked to upload their PowerPoint presentation onto the conference server the day before the scheduled presentation in the Speaker Ready Room. Presenters will not be permitted to use their own laptops with the exception of keynote and invited speakers.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS
